MESSAGEMessages from employees

I want to solve social issues with new ideas.

Director of Horiuchi Shoji
Kohei Horiuchi
Please describe the type of business Horiuchi Shoji is conducting.
The construction industry plays an extremely important role in today's society.
We are attracting attention due to our roles to play in infrastructure development, urban development, the construction of housing, and in recent years, recovery from disasters and in disaster preparedness. However, we have been facing the long-standing stigma of requiring workers to engage in hard, dirty, and dangerous work and thus are having difficulty attracting workers to this industry. However, the industry has been taking measures to improve the work environment and wages, and thereby the overall image of the industry.
What is the goal and future plans of Horiuchi Shoji?
We are planning to focus on the construction equipment rental business which I briefly mentioned earlier. Instead of simply renting out construction equipment, we are going to conduct a unique rental business that rents out skills of veterans. Many of the ICT-based construction equipment which are widely used today are controlled based on 3D design data. However, under the current operation style, a lot of manpower and time are required to master the use of the equipment to create drawings and make various decisions at construction sites. When the Q&A-type AI, which we independently developed, is introduced to the construction site, the AI will perform tasks which require knowledge and experience of skilled workers. This enables even young and less experienced operators to perform tasks in a shorter time. We expect that we can use this technology to solve the problem of aging skilled operators and also as an educational system to train young operators.
What kind of people are you looking for?
Our history in the civil engineering and construction industry is long, and we have a long list of achievements in this field. Due to this long history, we tend to be restricted by the common sense of the industry, preventing us from coming up with new and innovative ideas. We are thus looking for a wide variety of people without being limited by nationality or gender in order to get rid of such stagnation in the industry. We want people who are open to new things and are not bound by conventional norms, and can think and create a future with us. We are looking for new talents, including those who have experiences in different industries such as school teachers, factory workers, service providers, and farmers.
